It is here that she finds other girls in magical witch outfits with one of them being none other than her childhood friend. It is soon mentioned that the blob is actually a species known as a Pleiade. The reason for the group is such that they may collect pieces of spacecraft engine such that it may return home. And so starts a journey to collect the missing engine parts to help this lost blob back home. Although the premise of the story sounds really ridiculous, don't let it fool you. Houkago no Pleiades shares many similar points with Fate/Kaleid. In a way the central characters will have to set off on a gathering quest in order to fulfil a goal. Both have the mahou shoujo trope going for them. Both use the mission's purpose to build friendships amongst the group. Finally, the light heartedness of both shows is equivalent and both have plenty of moe moments and humour as well. If the carefree story of Fate/Kaleid appeals to you, this may just be yet another good anime to start watching!

Sekai Seifuku, although having a serious plot, is really just a show of haphazard goal fulfilling. Every episode will show the characters completing something irrelevant to world domination or having comical interactions with White Light. Zvezda also shares the element of comical characters alongside Fate/Kaleid. Both animes also shares the style of having absurd events as the main driving point for humour. For the loli lovers, both animes features the main protagonist as an eccentric loli as well!

3. Cardcaptor Sakura

Sakura Kinomoto is just a fourth grader in school. A seemingly normal ten year old, this was to change when she stumbles upon a mysterious book filled with cards. Just as she was about to inspect them, a gust of wind blew them away, scattering the cards everywhere. It was there, the Seal, Keroberos was awakened. Keroberos informs her that each of the cards possesses incredible powers and that they pose a danger to the world. Now, she must assume the role of a Cardcaptor and retrieve all of the cards while at the same time, balancing her school life and her new duty. If there was any anime that Fate/Kaleid reference to, it would have to be Cardcaptor Sakura. Both share the same premise of collecting cards with the titular character being a magical girl. However, Fate/Kaleid has more epic battle scenes than Cardcaptor. Nevertheless, both have its fair share of humour and mix of comical interactions between characters. The style and flow of the story flows quite similarly as well. In fact, we would call Fate/Kaleid - a world where Fate/Stay Night meets Cardcaptor Sakura!

Despite the club having no functional purpose at all, they provide for an entertaining good laugh with their respective eccentricities. Yuru Yuri is an eccentric comedy style of anime. It shares common humour styles with Fate/Kaleid even though it does not follow the magical girl concept. What is also present in both animes is the amount of moe moments and loli actions. Yuru Yuri is something you would expect if Fate/Kaleid decided to take a breather from the fighting sequence and instead focus on just spending time away in a club room. Carnival Phantasm brings all of the characters from their top works to compete in game-shows and interact between each other. See your favourite characters in a less serious tone and more comical fashion. It's just like an OVA but inter-anime style! Carnival Phantasm is another spin off of Fate/Stay Night but it incorporates other characters from the studio as well. Expect random moments and your characters in Fate/Stay Night in silly antics. If Illya is the reason for you watching Fate/Kaleid, fret not! She makes numerous appearances in Carnival Phantasm as well. There are also many moe moments for all of the characters as well! There is no serious plot at all and just like Fate/Kaleid, you should watch this anime for humour and sheer entertainment alone.

6. Toaru Kagaku no Railgun

Esper development is a policy in Academy City, which is at the forefront of these researches. Classed by their levels, Level 5's espers are known to be the most powerful of these espers. Amongst them is the electric manipulator known as Misaka Mikoto whom is also known by her alias - The Railgun, after her trademark move. Strange happenings started to occur in the city. The cause is a device known as a Level Upper. As the name suggests, this is a device to increase an esper's level. Misaka, together with her friend Kuroko must investigate the cause of it. Very similar to Fate/Kaleid, Railgun is a spin off from the parent story, Toaru Majutsu no Index. The spin-off is a less serious side to the overall story and follows a new central character. While there are still intense fighting sequences and exhilarating battle scenes, some of the screen-time is dedicated to the daily lives of the main character injected with light hearted comedy. If you want an anime that has a balance of action and comedy, Toaru Kagaku no Railgun fulfils that criteria that is akin to Fate/Kaleid and we definitely recommend it!

(This is the second season of Bungo Stray Dogs.) Atsushi Nakajima has nowhere to go. On the verge of starving, he has just been kicked out of the orphanage he was living in. The other appears to be neurotically flipping through a notebook while wearing glasses. He is Doppo Kunikida. They are part of a rumored “superpower detective agency” that deals with crimes and events that the normal police and army cannot handle. They are on the hunt for a human eating tiger that is disturbing the public and Atsushi just also requests to travel with them. Taking place in the city Yokohama, these men are those who have taken on the name of “bungo,” or literary master, and have embraced it. Common knowledge is that only other Objects can destroy an Object, which results in wars between humanity’s four factions foregoing continent-spanning, bloody engagements in favor of being settled in one-on-one duels between Object pilots. When two run-of-the-mill soldiers, Qwenthur and Havia, prove that Objects can be destroyed by conventional means and a little bit of willpower in order to save their friend Milinda, the rules of war change drastically. They find themselves in the middle of increasingly dangerous missions, with incredibly high stakes, where failure and success are the difference between life and death. Although Heavy Object has a more serious tone than Active Raid, it has plenty of similarities to keep fans happy. There’s tons of action-packed mecha combat, a moody, sci-fi future environment, and a compelling cast of comrades who must come to trust each other while embroiled in battle.

2. Apple Seed

After the catastrophic conflict of World War III resulted in the decimation of infrastructure in many of the world’s most powerful nations, an extra-national governmental body known as the General Management Control Office created an experimental city designed to be a utopia, called Olympus. Inhabited by humans, cyborgs, and genetically engineered humans dubbed “Bioroids,” with increased physical capabilities and decreased emotional capacity that control all administrative functions throughout the city, Olympus isn’t the idyllic place imagined by all of its inhabitants. Following the suicide of his wife, Calon has become fed up with the repressed societal expectations in place in Olympus, and conspires with a known terrorist, A.J, to shake up the status quote by taking down Central Management. Things get stickier when he learns that A.J’s agenda isn’t as benevolent as his own, and they come to the attention of the ESWAT Counter-Terrorism unit. Another police-oriented anime, Appleseed, as well as its more modern iterations (which have similar themes, and focuses) is an obvious recommendation for fans of Active Raid. It has a strong leading female character with an awesome mech-like sidekick, and its sci-fi future setting is an excellent stage for the action, which often questions what it means to truly be human.

3. Mobile Police Patlabor: On Television

An oldie but a goodie, Patlabor takes place in a near-future (humorously, around the year 2000) where much of the physical labor required by humanity is done by human-operated robots, called “Labors.” As with any powerful tool, it can be used for evil as well as good, and the Tokyo Metropolitan Police armed itself with a fleet of Patrol Labors (Patlabors) to fight fire with fire whenever a bold criminal steps out of line. However, the Second Special Vehicles Division isn’t exactly the heroic policing body the citizens of Japan expected. A rather motley crew of police men and women, one of whom loves robots a bit too much, another who is obsessed with guns, a husband on a short leash by his wife, and a surprisingly kind giant of a man, the Second Division has its work cut out for them, as the collateral damage caused on their missions is almost criminal in and of itself. The similarities to Active Raid are quite obvious but are worth mentioning. The sci-fi setting is the perfect environment for the comedy inspired by the misfit police force to play out. There’s also plenty of mecha action to keep fans of the genre coming back for more. With a remake right around the corner, now is the time to jump in!

Rail Wars! takes place in an alternate history where Japanese railways were never privatized, and go by the name of Japanese National Railways. Because of the stalwart leadership of the Japanese government, the rail lines flourish and become greater than ever. The story follows the journey of everyday high school student Naoto Takayama, who dreams of spending his days relaxing as a train driver. In order to accomplish this goal, he enters their training program, only to be placed into the railway security force for on the job training. He has to deal with everyday inconveniences that accompany train travel, the machinations of an extremist group that seeks to privatize the railways, as well as the eccentricities of his vivacious fellow trainees. Rail Wars! is perfect for fans of Active Raid who like their cop-based action comedy with a hefty helping of ecchi. Although there aren’t any towering mechs in the mix, the chemistry between its central cast of characters is enough to charm any fan of the genre.

5. Kuromukuro

However, the brave Yukihime, along with her samurai retainer Kennosuke, manage to steal one of the alien mechs, which they dub the “Black Relic,” and mount a successful counter offensive that results in a massive explosion, and the disappearance of Yukihime. Fast forward to 21st century Japan, where the Black Relic is unearthed during construction of the Kurobe Dam. The UN decides to study the powerful mech when the Efy Dolgh returns to resume their offensive. However, when Yukina accidentally triggers the Black Relic and releases a suspended Kennosuke, she is pulled onto the front lines of Earth’s fight for survival. Kuromukuro has a lot to enjoy for fans of Active Raid. It is a sci-fi, mecha anime with plenty of action, vibrantly captured. It’s worth noting that it eschews the comedy found in other entries on the list for a more mature take on the genre.

6. Viper’s Creed

It’s up to the “Blademen” in Arqon’s elite military unit, Viper, to utilize its versatile Maneuver Blades, humanoid mechs that double as motorcycles, to keep the citizens safe. A military squad-based sci-fi anime set in an alternate future, Viper’s Creed is sure to be a hit for fans of Active Raid. The human drama that stems from the tension between the private military and the general public in the post-war period plays out in explosive battles between human and robot, and is sure to keep viewers on the edge of their seats.

Within smartphone applications hide little-known creatures called Applimonsters, or Appmon for short. Appmon are apps with physical form and artificial intelligence that allows them to think and act on their own. They work for humans and the system between the human world and digital space. However, the ‘vicious last boss AI’ Leviathan is trying to control the Appmon using a virus, hack every system and control the human world from the internet. As if led by some great power, protagonist Haru Shinkai finds the ‘Appli Drive’ and using the ‘Appmon Chip,’ gives the search app monster Gatchmon physical form.
